This is going to be a simple process, as these apps are popular and very easy to install. Most require only a single click to add to NextCloud and mobile access granted by installing the application from your preferred App Store and then logging into your NextCloud instance.
Now that you have an installed and working NextCloud install, you may notice a few default plugins or “apps” installed already.
Click on your profile icon in the top right of the page and in the drop-down menu choose “Apps”. Search through the app lists and choose the following apps for the time being.
Install them one at a time, depending on the speed of your host, it may take up to a minute for each install. As you install them you should notice icons appearing in the top light-blue bar.
Contacts, Calendar, Tasks
Contacts, calendars, and tasks can be synchronized to your mobile devices using the following applications:
- DAVx5; This application may look to be very advanced but there is not much to it. For the Tasks portion, just install OpenTasks from your app store and tell DAVx5 to use that application. Also you should grab DAVx5 from F-Droid and install the APK or install the F-Droid store to keep things automatic.
The NextCloud news app is a browser based RSS feed reader, allowing you to replace other hosted platforms for reading all your feeds in a single pane. Be sure to enable the “Compact view” and “Show all articles” from the “Settings” menu on the bottom left when viewing the news app page.
The bookmarks app allows you to save, share, and synchronize bookmarks across multiple devices. I prefer to use the Floccus application for browser plugins and on mobile devices.
Forget syncing your passwords to some random online service. Enable the passwords app inside of NextCloud and grab some clients and plugins.
I am using the Android client by daper to access my passwords on mobile devices and the Firefox plugin for all my browsers based on Firefox code. You can get the full list of applications from the NextCloud store page for the Passwords app.
Deck is a kanban style organization tool aimed at personal planning and project organization for teams integrated with Nextcloud. This allows you to create “cards” and move them around a board, placing them in order of relevance and keeping track of your “to-do” list.
